As a premium manufacturer of flexible shims, customer-specific formed parts and self-adhesive decorative overlays, MARTIN processes an ever-growing selection of metal foils and precision sheets. The company has now expanded its range of materials to include flat semi-finished products made from numerous technical plastics.

Precision shims from MARTIN’s Laminum® series are being recognized more and more in many sectors of modern transmission construction as a flexible and efficient solution for adjusting the preload of roller bearings.

Roller bearing manufacturers have always invested a considerable amount of time and effort in developing ways to increase the service life of their products. It is of particular importance for the longevity and performance of tapered roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings that the axial preload is set in the ideal way during assembly.

After investing in a new transfer press and modern ERP system in mid-2020, supplier MARTIN has now put a fully automatic edge trimmer with hydraulic guillotine shear into operation.

We have been working the market together for many years now and can look back on a long history stretching back over decades in many cases. We are delighted about this long period of success. Over the last 10 years, a brand mix has resulted which we are now about to rectify. This brings us to our first bit of good news: The Lami family is making a return!

Lamivario® is a further development of laminated shims made of metal and/or composites according to customer’s specifications. The bonding takes place on one point of gluing, which is applied centrically between the individual layers. The cohesion of Lamivario® shims is thus appropriate for transportation and handling.

During the clamping process, the toggle should be in a particular position in relation to the axle centre. Adjustment is unavoidable because of the threaded bolts which have been screwed in differently.

M-Tech®P-CFC1 is a further development of edge-bonded shims made of composite material PREPREG HX50 HS 120g 1K 2X2T. The edge bonding is made in accordance with customer’s specifications at the edge of the foils and resembles a book spine. The cohesion of M-Tech®P-CFC1 edge bonded shim is thus appropriate for transportation and handling.
