Precision shims from MARTIN’s Laminum® series are being recognized more and more in many sectors of modern transmission construction as a flexible and efficient solution for adjusting the preload of roller bearings.

Roller bearing manufacturers have always invested a considerable amount of time and effort in developing ways to increase the service life of their products. It is of particular importance for the longevity and performance of tapered roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings that the axial preload is set in the ideal way during assembly.

After investing in a new transfer press and modern ERP system in mid-2020, supplier MARTIN has now put a fully automatic edge trimmer with hydraulic guillotine shear into operation.

Lamivario® is a further development of laminated shims made of metal and/or composites according to customer’s specifications. The bonding takes place on one point of gluing, which is applied centrically between the individual layers. The cohesion of Lamivario® shims is thus appropriate for transportation and handling.

During the clamping process, the toggle should be in a particular position in relation to the axle centre. Adjustment is unavoidable because of the threaded bolts which have been screwed in differently.
